Wacken, 2nd – 4th August, Wacken
The small village Wacken in Germany is famous fort it’s Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken only has 2,000 habitants but once a year it becomes the mecca for hard-and heavy rock fans around the world! This year you can enjoy live performances by Agro, Corpse Garden, Dimmu Borjir, Forbidden, Six Feet Under, Oomph! and veterans and newcomers on the metal scene. It started more than 20 years ago as a small event for local German bands and has become the major festival for European Metal bands and has included over 80 bands from all over Europe, North America and Australia. There are a lots of nice and cheap rock and roll hostels in Hamburg where you will find other metal-heads going to Wacken.
Sonne-Mond-Sterne-Festival (SMS) 10th – 12th August, 2012
SMS is one of the largest open-air festivals of electronic music in Germany, held annually on the second weekend in August in Thuringia. More than 100,000 visitors attend this event every year. You can get down to THE PRODIGY, Marteria, Chris Liebing, Northern Lite, Turntablerocker, HOT CHIP or LOCO DICE! This is much more than just a music event! Saalburg where the festival is held, it is located in the south of Thuringia in Germany. Just follow the music or look out for the hand-painted signs that point the way to SMS. Rocco del Schlacko, August 9 -11, Püttlingen
If you like pop and rock, you will enjoy the Rocco del Schlacko Festival. Berlin Festival, 7th -8th September
