EURO 2012 Guide for backpackers: the best places to watch the European Championship

Are you a lucky holder of an UFEA EURO 2012 Ticket? If this is the case you have probably already booked your hostel in Poland, or accommodation in Ukraine and can enjoy the football fever and the authentic real experience! For everyone else HostelsClub would like to highlight the best places to watch EURO 2012 in European cities.

Spain will begin the European Championship as the world’s top-ranked team, since they won the last World and European championships last year. There are thousands of bars in Barcelona, that will be screening the games. If you’re looking for a special place to watch the football, Sports bar Rambles is the perfect place to meet international fans. A lot of tapas and good beer guarantee you good time in with good company. At Sports Bar Rambles (La Rambla dels Caputxins 31, Barcelona) you’ll find good food, good music and large TV screens on which to follow your favorite team. A lot of hostels in Barcelona are located close to Rambles, so you will are very unlikely to get lost in the city after the match!

Berlin is impatiently awaiting EURO 2012, and have a special surprise for football fans. From the 9th of June to the 1st of July the street “Straße des 17. Juni” between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate will become the big ‘football fan mile’. There fans can enjoy all the German games and the semifinals and the finals on the giant video screens at the Brandenburg Gate. Before and after the games, there will be live bands on stage, games and activities around the football.

In Prague you will find large screens at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, showing the games of all competing nations. Alternatively, catch the action at a host of sports bars throughout the city, for example at Tipgames Sports Bar (Ve Smeckach 12, New Town, Prague 1), located close to Wenceslas Square. Tipgames is great place to watch sports and have a great party. In the area you will find also a perfect Prague hostel, such as Czech Inn, with a big screen and some of the world’s finest beers
